THE RESCUE

Thu Apr 23, 2009, 4:16 PM
Hey my friends.
I feel like if you still follow me here, you probably also have gotten bombarded with "The Rescue" info from livejournal and facebook as well, but hey, gotta tag up every space I've got.

I've been writing up my own blurb on the Uganda story, but today IC posted an article that Pete Wentz, of Fall Out Boy, wrote on The Rescue. And well, what can I say, Pete Wentz has better words that me:

"They're called Invisible Children. They're a movement of people who literally gave up everything because they believed in humanity. They put their money where their mouth is. I watched the film Invisible Children: Rough Cut a while back, about kids sleeping in the streets in Northern Uganda -- hundreds of them -- because they feared being abducted by rebel leader Joseph Kony and forced to fight in his rebel militia, the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA). They're kids. Except no one told them they were, so they carry AK-47s, kill their parents and murder, rape and terrorize their own people on command. In the past two decades, 30,000 of them have been abducted. This is a reality neither you nor I could ever begin to understand.

Here's where you come in. On April 25th, Invisible Children is staging an event called the RESCUE, in 100 cities across 10 countries worldwide. Thousands of people are going to symbolically 'abduct' themselves and stand in solidarity with all the abducted children forced to fight as soldiers. In turn, every group will be 'rescued' by a celebrity, politician, local luminary -- someone who will make noise and bring the media out. I will be there, in Washington, D.C. standing in solidarity with thousands of other people so that these kids in Uganda will be noticed. And if no cultural leader shows up in one particular city, then everyone in the surrounding cites that were rescued, will take a bus to join them. This will continue until every participating city is rescued. Now, this could take days, or even weeks, but it's going to happen.

The RESCUE is going to make history. It's going to make a positive impact. We will be at the frontlines. And I want YOU to be with us.

I thoroughly believe that after April 25th, the world will see a shift in consciousness, and things will be different. You will be changed, or at least you'll have a hell of a story to tell. Go to [link] and watch their new film called The Rescue of Joseph Kony's Child Soldiers to learn more about the specifics of why this is the next step. Then sign up. This is your chance to be a part of something great, not for the glory, but for the courage it takes to stand up for justice. Just don't light shit on fire, I don't want to get in trouble. "

So, go to [link]. Watch the film. Sign up for the event. Pete Wentz will be there; will you?

I AM ABDUCTED.
Go to The Rescue.

Razia's Shadow; Download it, listen to it, obsessively. :]

in other news, i'm an awesome mess! it's really cool, let me tell you all.
This really is unrelated to my art, but i had to preface with that. just cuz its a good summation of what's going on right now.

I'm doing a lot of stuff right now.
but none of it really has the right... i dunno, "feel", to go in my gallery. also, i don't LIKE most of it. the only thing that I've turned out lately that people have been really impressed by is that stupid 9 square of my face, which is obnoxious. (i got an A+ on that, by the way. sigh.)

But that's why I'm not uploading anything of worth. Cuz I'm producing in quantity. Not quality. TIGHT!

Hopefully I'll make up something cooler soon.

Night.

September and San Diego

Hey kids.
I know I've been slacking the last week or two.
Maybe that's a good thing, give you all a little rest from me. :P
but no really, things got busy, I moved, my friends are causing some interesting problems in my life at the moment, and art is getting really shafted to the wayside.
this may continue as school starts.
i don't know.
so i guess this is a warning: i might not be around quite so much as I was this summer.
Unless this shit with my friends spurs some ridiculous outpouring of art as expression, which it probably won't, due to its nature, then I'll be uploading old crap if I upload at all, and I don't really want to do that so much.
So I'm gonna try, my friends, but this may be Peace Out from me for a time.

Of course.

By that I mean Peace Out for new ART from me.

haha, I will probably almost definitely still be around and commenting just as much as usual, seeing as my computer is attached to me like a limb.

:]

PS. the raincloud mood emote is now my favorite. hahaha lookit how cute and angry he is when he flashes.

Woah, Still August and another Journal?

That's so very out of character for meh.
i apologize for the flooding i've been doing. it's been a really photo filled month, as well as a pretty good month for needing to use art to fill up my time cuz i HAD time and needed an outlet for a lot of crap. i HAVE been restraining myself though, believe it or not.
ummmm.
yeah.

I'm pretty open for collabs and art trades and stuff right now, because school won't start for another month. so if anyone wants one, I'm down. haha. oh, and I mean, i'll do commissions too, I just haven't charged people for my individual stuff before, so unless you have something real specific that you don't want to trade me some art/inspiration for, trade is the way to go. Those are more fun. :D

random question too:
my gallery's mostly full of photography, cuz that's my primary focus, but i dabble in a lot of other areas too, which has been surfacing lately. what do you guys WANT to see, more of that stuff? I'm a basic account member, or i would POLL you fools. :P Drawing/Traditional 2D "Art", Design/Typography, Wire, Photography, Poetry, or Prose?
Telling your right now that my poetry and drawing aren't up to scrap, but i still have SOME.

In other news. I have a bunch of crap to go through from today and yesterday. Scottish Games were fun to shoot. :D

ps.
MICHELLE ON DA. mwahaha. stalk her non-existent gallery until she is forced to upload SOMETHING.
